Your data on Se Habla Mucho
Explained without legalese: what we store, where it is kept, and what we never ask for.
Last updated: September 2026.
The short version
Almost everything the app "remembers" about you — mastered words, level, mistakes, study consistency — is stored only in your own browser, on this device. We do not have a database with your progress. If you clear your browser data or use another device, that history does not come with you.
What stays only in your browser (it never leaves)
We use a feature built into your browser called localStorage to store the following locally on your device:
- Vocabulary progress: which words you have already mastered in the exercises.
- Level and tests: which levels (A1–C1) you have already confirmed in the confirmation tests, and when.
- Difficult words: how many times you got each word wrong or asked to replay its audio — used only to show you your own dashboard in "My area".
- Study consistency: which days you practiced, to calculate your streak and estimate your pace.
- Saved words and folders: what you have favorited in the vocabulary.
- Name on the certificate: if you typed in a name to appear on the certificate.
If you create an account (see below), this data is also synced with your account, so you do not lose your progress when you switch devices.
Account, login and payment data
If you create an account on Se Habla Mucho, we store:
- Email and password: used only for login, managed by Firebase Authentication (Google). We never see your password in plain text.
- Synced progress: a copy of the study data listed above, so you can access it from any device.
- Community messages: if you use the chat/community, your messages are associated with your account and go through an automatic moderation filter.
If you subscribe to a paid plan (Plus or Premium), payment is processed by Stripe — we never receive or store your card number. Stripe stores your payment data in accordance with its own privacy policy, and we keep only a subscription identifier (status, plan, dates) to unlock access to paid features.
We use it only to make the site work for you: login, syncing progress, unlocking your plan's content, and moderating the community. We do not sell it, we do not share it with third parties for advertising, and we do not use it for any other purpose.
How to delete your account and data
You can request deletion of your Se Habla Mucho account (sehablamucho.com) at any time by following the steps below:
- Send an email to contato@sehablamucho.com (or use the form on the support page) with the subject "Delete my account", from the same email address registered in the app.
- We confirm receipt of your request and, within 7 business days, delete your account and the data associated with it.
What is deleted: your login (email and password in Firebase Authentication), your study progress synced with the account, your community messages, and the link between your subscription and your account.
What may be kept longer: payment records (receipts, billing history) may be kept by Stripe for an additional period, as required by tax and accounting obligations — even after your Se Habla Mucho account is deleted, these financial records follow Stripe's own retention policy. Data that was already saved only in your browser (localStorage) is not erased remotely — you can clear it yourself in your browser settings.
What we never ask for here
- Card numbers, full bank details, or any payment data outside Stripe's secure checkout
- Official documents (CPF, RG, passport)
- Health data or sensitive information
Fonts and external services
The site loads its text fonts (Fraunces and Inter) directly from Google Fonts, and the "View in Libras/LSE" links point to the SpreadTheSign dictionary. When you visit those external pages, their own privacy rules apply — not ours.
